Cookies and local storage
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Local storage is similar, but the data stays in your browser and is never automatically transmitted. This site uses both, and everything it uses is listed below.
The full list
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| mb-analytics-consent | Local storage | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics so you are not asked on every page | Until you clear it or use Cookie settings | Strictly necessary |
| _ga | Cookie, set by Google | Distinguishes one browser from another for Google Analytics | Up to 2 years | Analytics, consent required |
| _ga_* | Cookie, set by Google | Keeps Google Analytics session state, the suffix is the measurement ID | Up to 2 years | Analytics, consent required |
| Session cookie | Cookie | Keeps the site operator signed in to the private admin area, never set for public visitors | Session | Strictly necessary |
No other cookies are set. There are no advertising cookies, no social media cookies, no A/B testing cookies, and no preference cookies on the public site.
Nothing loads before you choose
The Google Analytics script is not requested when the page loads. It is requested only after you press Accept. If you press Decline, or close the page without choosing, no analytics script is ever downloaded and no _ga cookie is ever created.
Declining changes nothing about how the site works. No page, image, or feature is hidden behind consent.
Changing your mind
Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. That clears your stored choice and brings the banner back so you can choose again.
One thing worth being clear about: withdrawing consent stops any further analytics collection immediately, but it does not delete cookies that were already stored while consent was active. Browsers do not allow a site to reliably remove another domain cookies. To remove them, clear cookies for this site in your browser settings, which every major browser offers under privacy or site data.
Browser level controls
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers let you refuse third party cookies entirely. Blocking everything will not break this site, because the only strictly necessary item on the public site is the record of your own consent choice.
Third party content that is not a cookie
Some project cover images are served directly from Google Drive. That sets no cookie, but it does mean Google receives your IP address and the referring page when a project page loads, whatever your analytics choice. This is explained in the Privacy Policy.
